I do not 'wait for summer' more than any other month or season of the year. (I am far too Irish and ginger for that sort of a countdown!) However, I do enjoy all of the little things that inevitably come with the warmer, brighter time of year so I ensure I never take these for granted.
Yesterday was one of those days for me.
I spent the morning with my dad, sister and soon to be brother-in-law. We browsed, shopped and managed to get our faces on the Shakeaway website! We then all headed to a lake where we met my brother, his wife and my niece. The sunshine meant we had a lovely stroll around the lake, had fun in the park (although the ratio of 6 adults and one baby did gain us some strange looks!) I was spotted 'feeding my niece to the ducks' as some lady commented. To which my sister replied 'as if you would do it in broad daylight in front of all these people!' I'm honestly not sure what worries me more - the woman thinking that's what I was doing or my sister trying to find me a better time to do it! After all of this excitement, we enjoyed some lunch before heading home.
At home I had loads more fun play time, this time with the boy and his nephew. The little one showed me how to make paper aeroplanes and we raced them around the house before masking some real model aeroplanes and flying them outside. I honestly don't think my heart will ever not melt when I see how much that little one looks up to the boy. He really is his very own superhero who does all the coolest things!
Days like that really are what summer is about and memories they make will last forever.
How do you enjoy the sun?
