Buckle Up

Luton Town have revealed their new manager to the public; Mr Paul Buckle.

The ‘Buckle era’ at Luton Town will officially start with the assignment of PB as manager on Sunday (8th April 2012). The 41-year-old has signed a contract with the club until at least the summer of 2014 after consistently impressing the board including new technical director Lil.

Over 200 applicants were shortlisted this week down to eight, who went through a rigorous interview process, that led to PB getting the job.

The new gaffer will only have that day to prepare his new team for their Easter Monday battle against Hayes & Yeading.

The silver fox has promotion in his sights and on his CV as he led Torquay United from the conference into League 2 via a play-off final in 2009.

Luton board member Gary Sweet told lutontown.co.uk everything had fallen perfectly into place. He went on: “we believe Paul is the right man, at the right time. The amount of applications was staggering, the quality of candidates even more astounding.”

Sweet was very complimenting of his new colleague’s previous achievements, “Paul’s credentials speak for themselves. Not many managers have promotion from the Conference on their CV.”

PB will meet his players and staff today (Friday) and the Braintree game will continue this Saturday, as planned, with Nielson and Carden in charge before a press conference introducing PB at the club on Sunday.
