Luton Town V Dorchester Town – FA Trophy Replay

It was a case of third times a charm for Buckle’s boys last night as they progressed to the next round of the FA Trophy with a 3-1 win.

Goals from young Hatters JJ O'Donnell and Dan Walker put the Luton boys ahead before a goal from Dorchester’s Dan Thompson gave the away fans a goal to cheer about.

A much less experienced side stood out onto Kenilworth Road last night to face Blue Square South side Dorchester, with eight changes being made since their FA Cup meet on Saturday,  but were no less impressive.

James Dance had his first start for the Hatters and looked like he had never been away; after winning the first corner following a shot aimed for an injury struck Jon Shaw who also made his reappearance. Shaw made it clear he was fighting for his first team place back by setting up the first 2 stunning goals.

O'Donnell took a long-range strike straight for the goal in the 10th minute to see the home side take the lead.
This was followed 6 minutes later by another flick on from Shaw which got to the feet of young striker Walker who took on the Dorchester defence and hit the back of the net.

Going in at half time Town were 2-0 up with keeper Dean Brill not having much more to do than shout at his defence!

Dan Walker then doubled his goal tally with a similar finish that saw Luton go 3-0 up in the 69th minute but a late goal from Dorchester took away the desired clean sheet for the Town.

Luton manager, Paul Buckle told lutontown.co.uk: “We scored three good goals and not one player let us down. It was dangerous making as many changes as we did but we trusted the players we've got here and they didn't prove me wrong. A number of players out there haven’t had a lot of football recently but it didn't look that way.”

Luton will now face Matlock away in the next round on Saturday 15th December.
