Luton were punished for their mistakes as goals came following a lack lustre performance from the Town defence.
Centre back Yanos Kovacs gave James Henry the first goal of the game in just 12 minutes after a mis-controlled ball fell at the Millwall strikers feet and he ran it past Luton keeper Mark Tyler.
The boys in orange held all the possession and an equalising goal was looking promising as Millwall keeper stopped shots from Scott Rendell, Andre Grey and Arnaud Mendy.
But more upset followed as Rob Hulse, currently on loan to Millwall from Queens Park Rangers, made the Luton defence look silly for their mistakes once again with a well placed overhead kick leaving Luton nothing else to do but watch the ball fly past them.
A goal was still a high possibility for Luton as they kept Millwall working from end to end but the game was put to bed in the 86th minute when Danny N'Guessan got Millwall's third goal.
Mixed reactions were heard around the sold out Kenilworth Road as the Luton boys left the pitch to chants of "we are Luton Town" partnered with choruses of boos.
The final 8 would've been both a financial and confidence boost for the club following the poor performance in the League that people are calling the 'curse of the cup'.
Luton boss Paul Buckle echoed the fans frustration as he told lutontown.co.uk: "Mistakes have been the story of our season. We need to be honest now starting Monday. We’ve got to cut them out and move on.”
The Hatters next face Macclesfield away on Tuesday night, a must win game for Luton as Macclesfield are 3 points above them in the league table.
