I AM A WIZARD

Today I got the letter I have waited 12 years for. Well, maybe not, but in my head it read just the same: “You are a wizard. You are going to Hogwarts…”

So that is exactly what we did.

As you can probably tell from the title of this blog, I love Harry Potter! With ginger hair and freckles I was destined to be a Weasley, I left my Year 11 prom when the last book was released and I went to Leicester Square for the premiere showing of Goblet of Fire. But that's another blog post, back to today and back to our trip...

Arriving at the Warner Bros Studios I was instantly full of excitement and didn't know what I wanted to look at first, there were pictures everywhere, a big purple bus and giant wizard’s chess pieces. After taking some photos my Mum and I joined the line for our tickets, the guy who served us (Glen) was really sweet and let us have the tour passports even though we didn't have any child tickets.

I swear I must have walked around 90% of the day with my mouth open as the sets, the costumes, the props and the effects were all just amazing. To quote Emma Watson “it made the magic world real and the real world magical”.

I drove the flying Ford Anglia, flew on a broomstick through London, watched a scarf knit itself in the Weasley house, hitched a ride on the knight bus and fought opponents with the spells I learnt. And you can’t visit the wizarding world without buying a Butterbeer! It is literally the sweetest thing to enter my mouth and I could have drunk a whole barrel!

Back in the muggle world I knocked on 3 & 4 Privet Drive, saw miniature casts of Diagon Alley, Hagrid’s Hut and Ollivander’s Wand Shop before being blown away by a model of Hogwarts.

Not forgetting today is Harry's 33rd birthday I had a toast to him in the Great Hall and thought about him '20 years later'.

I had an absolutely amazing day; the work that went into the Harry Potter movies throughout the 10 years of filming is evident in every aspect of the studios and everyone who has walked through those doors to help on the films is appreciated in a ‘room of credits’ where you can see all the names on their very own wand box.

Definitely a great day out for any budding wizard, just remember to book early and arrive even earlier.

Now you see him..

Got Butterbeer?
