Birchbox January 2014

A new year, a new me? Not completely but I am definitely trying out a lot of new things this year, and one of them is a beauty subscription box.

Birchbox is a monthly beauty box costing just under £10 a month and you receive 4-5 handpicked products according to you and your style.

I had seen this type of subscription box raved about a lot on YouTube and numerous other blogs so decided to do a bit of research for myself. Birchbox is one of the cheapest as I found they can range anywhere from £7 a month to £70.

I took the initial style quiz when signing up to the website and looked at some of the products available. I was suitably impressed, and very much looking forward to the news that every January box was guaranteed to contain a Benefit product, so I made the payment and awaited my first box.

I was surprised by the size of the box when it was delivered as it was a lot bigger than I was expecting, inside the delivery box was another cardboard box with the Birchbox logo on the lid, inside this was some leaflets, a handbook on how to have a good year and a yellow drawstring bag.

Inside the bag I had a variety of different products for my skin, hair and body. The Benefit product I received was the Pore-fessional, which I was thrilled about as I still hadn’t tried this! I also received a tube of BeeKind body lotion which I had used before and loved. I hadn’t heard of any of the other brands but I received a tube of Philip Kingsley conditioner, Blanc Cachemire cream, Lavera sensitive hand cream and some Itsu soup paste.

I am super excited to use all of these products and will make sure to give you a proper review as and when I do. I have high hopes for the pore-fessional as I have read some great reviews so am sure I will be purchasing more of this if it really is as good as it boasts.

I was very late in ordering this box so I received it in February but I am very impressed with the service and with the products I received so will definitely be continuing this subscription for a while yet. I should be receiving another box very shortly so make sure to check back to see what I get this month.
