Box Mix Baker

I love a bit of baking as much as the next Mr Hollywood but throw in a busy schedule and take out the hundreds of pounds of kitchen equipment sometimes I am drawn in by a box mix.

I am not too much of a baking snob to turn my nose up at opening a packet, adding the minimum of ingredients and letting the oven do the rest.

I subscribe to a YouTube baker Rosanna Pansino and am a massive fan of her Nerdy Nummies series (click here to check out her channel.) She frequently reaches for a box mix when creating some of her masterpieces so if it’s good enough for her I’m sure it’s good enough for me!

Whilst shopping this week I spotted this super cute Daisy Cookie Kit (complete with daisy cookie cutter) and some Wilton Bake Easy pan spray. I am the worst as greasing pans and tins; I can never do it even when I try to use butter and always leave clumps of butter in corners and gaps that I miss so the pan spray seemed like the perfect solution for me.

Both items were from TK Maxx and both cost only £3.99, when I got home I needed no excuse for baking as I love biscuits and was sure to find a good film to share these with a cup of tea in front of.

Unfortunately I didn’t read the box and when I opened the first packet was greeted with a whiff of lemon so knew that, due to my hatred of anything lemon-y, I wouldn’t be indulging in these biscuits! However a bake is a bake so I continued on with the biscuits.

The mix made a lot more than the 10 it said on the packet, below are just a few I photographed (I’m still getting used to the fan oven that seems to cook everything a lot quicker than its given time so some got a bit too dark!)

I was very impressed with the spray as not one biscuit stuck to the tray so I will definitely be using this again; I just hope I can find a British alternative that is just as good as Wiltons and a bit cheaper than £3.99!

Not quite as pretty as the box
