Winning against Aston Villa & that 7-0 beating of Arsenal XI would be
the obvious highlights of any Luton fans pre season.
However, seeing Hitchin Town painted orange, hearing thousands of fans
chanting the new boys names and knowing we finally have Luton men capable of
not only taking a corner but a penalty as well were some of my highlights.
Seeing Jon Shaw's shots reunited with the back of the net is exciting to
think of what he is capable of this season.
Alex Lacey has excelled in the captains armband, he
has proved he can be vocal by leading the lads, encouraging them and keeping
them going forward. He has also shown performances beyond his years and to
think we have had him sat on the bench, or with the reserves all this time just
makes me think what he could’ve brought to the team before now and how was it
missed?
The lads have shown some moments of excellence in all areas
of the pitch and are actually playing together and as a team, there is no
panicking when our opposition have the ball and long balls are now being played
when we have the men upfront to use them.
Pre-season is not necessarily how this year is going to pan
out but if it’s just a slight indication then I think I’m in for a good one.
Although I’m sure it will come with its bumps in the road,
being a Luton fan is never an easy ride.
