Art Attacked!

Art Attack was one of my favourite TV shows when I was growing up. I didn’t need much encouragement to make a mess but with the help of Neil Buchanan it was a constructive mess.

This is what Art Attack should look like:

So, imagine my surprise when I tune into Disney Junior and see Art Attack looking like this:

Everything I had remembered about Art Attack was gone. Sure the uniform was the same but the format had been completely re-vamped, the creations had been modernised and there was no appearance of The Head!

It was just all too shiny and clean, children’s TV shouldn’t be like this. It should be silly and funny, it should be inspirational and encouraging. There doesn’t need to be a moral when explaining to a 9-year-old how to make a spider out of a hula hoop!

This got me thinking, is this the future of children’s TV? Must everything now be polished and perfect, do we need to have our heads filled with good behaviour and morals? Can we not just draw a car?
