Barrow V Luton Town 21.02.12

Luton Town saw their unbeaten run smashed to a halt, as manager Gary Brabin says: “we didn’t do enough to take the game”, and Barrow picked up three points from a 1-0 win.

Luton started with an attacking squad in an unusual 4-3-3 formation giving fans hope this was going to be a high scoring game for The Hatters. However, with Aaron O’Connor and Craig McAllister missing goal scoring opportunities in the first half, it was a strike from Barrow’s Alex-Ray Harvey that won the game.
Brabin’s men in orange dominated the first 45 minutes on the pitch, fighting against the bad weather and pitch conditions, and should have been leading early on against The Bluebirds but the attacking squad on paper rarely managed to capture the opportunities and saw chances pass them by.
However, the second half seemed to be a completely different game and Barrow came back out and showed they were prepared to put up a fight. Luton made changes to see Watkins come on in a hope to change the pace and apply some pressure on the Barrow defence but it must have been 20 minutes before his feet found the ball. And, in the end, it was Barrow who proved they were going to seize the opportunity when it arose and managed to net the game winner.
With 13 games left of the season promotion dreams aren’t completely lost but Luton certainly aren’t making it easy on themselves playing like they did at Holker Street. But the gaffer is certain the team will not hang their heads after this game telling www.lutontown.co.uk: “we’ve got to keep going and learn from it because it certainly wasn’t good enough”.
