Hatters fans were treated to two spectacular goals as Luton
Town continued their FA Trophy fight with a 2-0 win against Gateshead.
Following a disappointing midweek loss in the league Gary
Brabin and his boys has a lot more than FA Trophy semi-finals riding on this
game.
“It was nice to bounce back. We were all hugely frustrated
by the defeat at Barrow but today I was delighted with the performance and
result,” the gaffer told lutontown.co.uk
And the team certainly showed they were out to put that game
to bed when they stepped out onto Kenilworth Road to face the northern boys.
It only took 8 minutes for Luton’s John Paul Kissock to get
fans off their seats with an acrobatic first goal of the season. The striker,
dubbed ‘JP Messi’ by fans, is known for his skill on the ball and had been
trying for a goal ever since his first appearance. He told lutontown.co.uk: “there’s
competition for all the places, there are so many fantastic players and we
should all strive on that.”
Luton dominated the game from the go and had the opportunity
to bridge the gap by more than one with shots from Danny Crow, Robbie Willmott
and Greg Taylor being denied.
But it was Luton midfielder Keith Keane that got that second
goal just under the hour with a free kick that went straight for the back of
the net.
Fan favourite ‘Keano’ has made himself known for his jaw
dropping goals and this wasn’t far from that: “I don’t score very often but
when I do they’re normally alright,” Towns No. 4 joked after the game.
