York achieved a full house against Luton with 4 wins in as
many games this season.
The Minstermen now sit comfortably in a play-off position
whilst all The Hatters can do is look on and hope following their 2-1 defeat at
Kenilworth Road.
Luton began the game in a much more positive position than
they have shown lately and new signing Andre Gray provided an early lead for
the men in orange. With Brabin making no changes to the starting eleven it
looked like they could be about to end their bad streak.
This was, of course, before they manager had his chance to
give one of his ‘special’ half time talks, no-one has spoken about what goes on
in the changing rooms during that fifteen minute break but no matter what team
walk in, whether they are winning or losing, a completely different side leave.
And this usually ends up with Luton conceding in the dying minutes of the game.
Substituting Danny Crow for Craig McAllister should have
meant that out long high balls would have created a mass of gal scoring opportunities,
however, this just wasn’t the case as McAllister missed a shot to an open goal
and The Hatters corners were finding only the goalkeepers hands.
York took charge of the second 45 minutes on the pitch and,
with only 10 minutes left, manages to steal 3 points from under Luton’s feet
and left the away fans chanting “there’s only one Gary Brabin.”
This chorus didn’t seem to faze the Luton gaffer as he told
Premier Sports TV he was still the man to take Luton back into league football.
