Countdown to Christmas – 1st December 2014

Welcome back to another countdown to the most festive day of the year. This year I have lots planned from advent calendars to secret Santa, from homemade tree decorations to the best ways to use your turkey leftovers and everything in between!

As you know, I am a massive kid at heart and love the sparkle, the magic and all of the festive cheer. However, I am also quite strict in when I begin to feel all of this and am in no way one of the people that turn my countdown over as soon as it gets to ‘99 days ‘til Christmas’ or puts my lights up in the middle of October!

Countdowns are a big thing though and I have been planning this one for a while as last years was such a hit! I also love a good chocolate advent calendar and this year got my first ornamental countdown to Christmas as well.

With my mum so far away I was worried that I would not get an advent calendar but the boy’s mum surprised me with one a few days ago as well as the owl countdown ornament she had given me a while back. Every day I will be sharing with you what was in my advent calendar picture (today was a bell) and a super cute picture of my owl counting down.

This year I also bought a wooden advent calendar for my niece. As she is only going to be 4 months old this Christmas she won’t understand it but I will fill each day every year and as she gets older the excitement will grow. This year I have just filled it with socks, bibs, booties and a few muslin squares but as the years go on I can fill it with cute girly things like hairbands and jewellery as well as yummy sweets and chocolates too.

Do any of you have any really cool advent calendars or traditions you have to countdown to Christmas? If so, share your stories with me too.
