Countdown to Christmas – December 14th 2013

Christmas is the best excuse to get creative, to get your fingers sticky as you dive into pots of glue, glitter and sugar!

Whether you’re making decorations, gifts or just treating yourself to something sparkly or sweet this Christmas there are loads of things in the shops to give you inspiration and to stock up on the materials.

I have been stocking up on fun activities to do with the boys’ nephew in the run up to Christmas as well as things I could make as cute little extra bits to add to gifts.

I first saw a 3D Santa house to make out of foam, I didn’t know if this would be much fun initially but when I saw that the kit came with glitter, stickers AND rhinestones I was sold! The box says ages 5+ but I am certain that, with my helping hands, the little one will enjoy building this.

I was then thinking about the kitchen as I know I will be making a big batch of Tiffin as it has always been a big hit in previous years. I didn’t want to just stick to that though and shopped around for fresh new ideas and I was not disappointed.

I found this cute box of ‘Make your own Christmas tree’ cookies, with all the ingredients, a Christmas tree cookie cutter and jingle bells on the box what’s not to love? I am planning on this being another activity I do with the little one as they are super easy to make and don’t take too long to bake.

Next, I found a silicone gingerbread mould and, with this gingerbread cake recipe I found from TV baker Mary Berry, I plan on making some gingerbread cakes and icing them to give out around the Christmas period.

I will keep you posted on how these activities work out and how the baked goodies turn out.

Do you have any festive crafty days planned?
