Countdown to Christmas – December 9th 2013

Obviously a massive part of Christmas is the tree and a real one is always the best option, even taking into account the needles and the weight and the fact it will only last one Christmas. Today I went on the hunt for the perfect tree, and am pretty chuffed with what I found!

Before we set off my Dad had already told me the two things I must do before choosing a tree was shake it from the top and then run my hand down one of the branches to see how many needles it loses. Well, some of the trees were far too prickly to do either of those so they were instantly out of the equation.

Then there was the decision on size, there were trees that barely came up to my ankles right through to trees I could climb! I had to think realistically about the space I had and decided upon the 4ft-5ft trees were the cutest and most in proportion.

After no time at all I found Bert, and yes I gave him a name after all he will be living in my house for the next 3 weeks I thought we should become acquainted!

Bert is just over 4 feet tall with branches so soft I could sleep comfortably upon them. He was just wide enough for the space we had made him and just tall enough for the angel on the top. Story in short, he was perfect.

We got him bagged up (which turned out to be a lot more complicated than it should be) and then took him inside to buy. Inside I got distracted by all the pretty lights and ended up buying a few more decorations but more about them another time.

All I all I am very pleased with my first ever Christmas tree purchase and am excited for the many more to come. Make sure you check out all of the pictures below and come back to read about how I have decorated my house for Christmas.
