Twenty Years Later

Firstly, to clear things up, I am not writing the worst ending to the Harry Potter series ever imagined!

I am talking about a group of men who have been one of my biggest musical influences. A group who have taken a lot of my firsts; my first crush, first love, first cassette tape, first cd, first concert, the list does go on.

As you may already know from previous posts the band in question is Boyzone and I was lucky enough to get tickets to go and see them in concert as they celebrated 20 years as a band.

If you are not familiar with Boyzone they are an Irish boy band with hits including Words, Love Me For A Reason, Picture Of You and No Matter What before they split in 2000.

I took my Mum to Brighton this week to go and see the boyz perform at the Brighton Centre, what a beautiful little venue, I will definitely be visiting here more often for shows!

Boyzone were just amazing and whilst listening to them I was the 7-year-old girl singing along to my cassette player to A Different Beat.

For a band that has been around a while they still kept the show fresh and unique to any time I had seen them before, with new songs, new dances and new dancers.

Ronan did a lot less of the frontman act than I had expected but was supported excellently by Keith, Shane and Mikey G. Shane came out as the true entertainer and danced around the whole stage and really worked with the audience.

We were lucky enough to be right at the front, and within touching distance of the boyz when they jumped onto the podiums to sing into the crowd.

All in all I had a great night full of entertainment, laughing and a few tears as we all paid tribute to Stephen Gately, who passed away in 2009.

The band has proved their worth to the music industry overcoming battles that would break any other group. They have released albums as a band and as solo artists yet every time they perform they seem to come back stronger than they left.

Mikey had the great pleasure of announcing a new deal they had signed with their label and the Brighton Centre cheered loudly at the prospect of another 20 years with these boyz.
