Countdown to Christmas – December 23rd 2013

I’m not sure about you but at Christmas there is always that one emergency that crops up on me that I have not or could not prepare for. Today was that day!

I had today all planned out; I was going to do the baking I was giving out as presents, finish wrapping my last few presents, finish writing all my cards, make the boys stocking and then have an evening chilling and uploading my new music onto my iPod.

Turns out I spend the morning sat in traffic and the afternoon stood in the rain assembling a rabbit cage, so not quite as I had planned!

As you may know it is winter in England so the weather is wet, windy and generally dull.

I had been considering a new cage for my rabbit for a while not but as it was more of a want than a need I had decided to wait. Two days before Christmas was definitely not when I would have planned to be buying him a new home!

When the strong winds met my rabbit’s cage it pushed it over and my poor little guy was lying on his roof and being rained on so he spent a few hours in my living room by the radiator, generally loving life, whilst my Mum and I drove around pet shops looking for a suitable cage in stock.

With it being so close to Christmas roads and shops were heaving but we did manage to find him a nice one storey house (I thought this would be sturdier against the wind as his two storey mansion was obviously too tall and got pushed over with ease!)

When we got home, as Pie* still sat in his carry case by the radiator, myself and the boy assembled the cage, rearranged the garden so his new house was in a place more sheltered from the wind, and then stocked it up nice and full so he could gradually get used to life outside.

I must admit he did seem to love his new house and has even redecorated his bedroom already; obviously my hay arranging skills aren’t quite what they should be!

When the weather gets a bit nicer and there is some more light in my garden I will make sure to take some pictures of Pie in his new house but right now I am about 9 hours behind on today’s schedule so off to the oven I go.

*Pie did not get his name for the food most commonly served with mash. He is in fact named after Pythagoras the Greek philosopher most famous for his mathematics theory.
