Countdown to Christmas – December 21st 2013

An essential for me at Christmas is a salted caramel latte. I first came across these when I was in America and for years was waiting for a coffee shop to start serving these in the UK.



Last year I had the idea of turning this recipe into a hot chocolate treat as my Mum and I had got into the routine of having a big mug of hot chocolate before bed every night.

The first thing I did was find my most perfect Christmas mug which I squeezed A LOT of caramel into and around the sides. I then made a Belgian hot chocolate sachet as normal and poured this into the mug. The finishing touches really make this drink so I topped the drink with a generous amount of squirty cream and caramel before sprinkling on some sea salt rocks to give it the salty crunch.

I now make these all year round when I really want a nice warm pick me up, just not in my Christmas mug!
