Countdown to Christmas – December 6th 2013

A massive part of Christmas every year is always decorating the tree. So I thought it was only fair to let you share in the fun with me this year as I do the tree at work.

The tree I have to decorate is a big artificial number (the one you spend hours looking for the coordinating colours so your branches make the right tree shape!) However, last year when packing the tree away I was obviously forward planning and had bunched all the branches together by colour so the assembling was made a lot easier this year.

The boring part for me is ‘fluffing out’ the tree so it didn’t look like a catwalk model and more like me after a weekend of takeaways! But, you know, that once this is done the decorating can really begin.

I always, always start by wrapping the lights around the tree. On this guy I used 2 rows of 5m white lights; I thought they were simple but effective! I then began placing the decorations, I went for a red and gold theme with some baubles, snowflakes and some homemade bows (made from some thick gold ribbon found in the decoration box.) I also found one matte gold star which I had to include even though he was the only one.

I then had to put the big sparkling star on the top and wrapped some thin gold starry tinsel around the bottom to cover up the ugly bit where the star and the tree meet.

Decorating the tree at home will be a lot less simple and a lot more full, we still have decorations I made at nursery that have to go on the tree somewhere! I will make sure to upload some pictures once that’s done.
Window 6 is open.

Out of focus but still sparkling
