Time To Reflect

The end of another year is nearing and as 2014 closes I have been reflecting a lot over what has been a pretty life changing twelve months.

Countdown to Christmas – 24th December 2014

It is the night before Christmas; I have filled up the stockings and hung them on the stairs. All of the presents are wrapped and ready and now I am relaxing with a peppermint hot chocolate and listening to Justin Bieber’s Christmas album.

Countdown to Christmas – 21st December 2014

This year my sister and I planned an alternative Christmas as it would just be me, her and Dad at home, and my dad isn’t the biggest fan of Christmas as it goes!

Countdown to Christmas – 19th December 2014

Another Christmas tradition is Secret Santa. This is where people pull names out of a hat, in a work place or a group of friends or within a family, and agree on a budget and then buy presents for their person in secret.

Countdown to Christmas – 12th December 2014

A growing tradition around this time of year is the Christmas jumper, whether it is cute or ugly, woollen or a sweatshirt, an elf or a Christmas tree, they all manage to rear their heads.

Countdown to Christmas – 9th December 2014

I apologise now I have been pretty slack over the weekend, but in my defence I don’t know where the weekend went! One minute it was Friday and I was in a queue at the Post Office and now it’s Tuesday and I’m filling you in.

Countdown to Christmas – 5th December 2014

My main panic at this time of year is the postal service. As I said yesterday I am usually a lot more organised than this so have presents wrapped and posted before I have even opened the first window on my advent calendar.

Countdown to Christmas – 4th December 2014

Something that is hard to avoid at this time of year is adverts, shopping and sales.

Countdown to Christmas – 3rd December 2014

There must be something in the air in December that awakens all of our creative energy; even my sister was making a Christmas wreath a few nights ago (and if you knew my sister you’d know she is not the type to sit at home of an evening surrounded by supplies from Hobbycraft!)

Countdown to Christmas – 2nd December 2014

One thing that gets me excited about Christmas is coffee, I know Costa will have some amazing coffee treats for me at this time of year and they will all be served to me in cute take out cups.

Countdown to Christmas – 1st December 2014

Welcome back to another countdown to the most festive day of the year. This year I have lots planned from advent calendars to secret Santa, from homemade tree decorations to the best ways to use your turkey leftovers and everything in between!

Saying Thanks Is More Than Just Good Manners

If you are reading this from across the pond you will be in full Thanksgiving mode, stuffing yourselves with turkey and pumpkin pie, making trips around all the family and getting ready for the biggest shopping day of the year!

Bright Lights In The Big City

As I mentioned a few days ago the boy and I took a trip into London. The main reason for the trip was to visit the Tower of London and view the poppy memorial, but we made a day of it and saw some more amazing sights.

We Will Always Remember

This year marks the 100 year anniversary since Britain’s involvement in World War One. I went to London to see how an artist and lots of volunteers have helped the capital city show their remembrance.

The Autumn Tag

I don’t normally get involved with the thousands of tags that travel the bloggersphere but when I saw one labelled ‘The Autumn Tag’ I had to add my entry.

Autumn, or fall for the Americans, is my favourite time of year so I thought I would share with you some of the reasons why and some of the things I love to do in these not still hot, not yet cold months!

The Pointless Post

If you have heard of YouTube then you have probably heard of Alfie Deyes, creator of The Pointless Blog, and most recently author of best-selling The Pointless Book.

Cutest Pumpkin In The Patch

As you would have gathered by now I am a little bit excited for Halloween and everyone knows everything is bigger in America!

It’s Fall Y’all

I tweeted yesterday that I couldn’t believe it was the 1st of Halloween already. And that was the truth!

In The Directors Seat

Last Saturday was the boy’s mum’s birthday so we arranged to take her to Kenilworth Road to watch Luton play Cheltenham. We had executive tickets so were treated to a tour of the ground, (including the dressing rooms), a two-course carvery meal, seats in the director’s box, and watching the man of the match presentation at the end of the game.

The Official Top 20

It struck me a few days ago that I have been writing for you guys for nearly 3 years now. Which then got me thinking of how much I have changed during those 3 years, how much I share with you and also how much I don’t.

Life Without Wi-Fi

Last week the boy and I went to stay on the Norfolk Broads for a week. If you aren’t familiar with The Broads they are a collection of waterways in the South East of the UK. The skies were blue, the rivers run in every direction, the fields went on for miles and signal became a thing of the past!

From Steady To Schoolboy

I am a bit late getting in to writing up this season; however, do not fear – I have returned to Kenilworth Road with the boys in orange.

The Exblendables

As you know I was bought a Breville Blend Active for my birthday and to say this has changed my life would not feel like an exaggeration to me.

United State Of Mind

I mentioned briefly in my birthday post that my Mum has just moved to America, this was the first time I had shared that news with you guys and promised I would fill you in on a bit more information so, here it is…

Birthdays, Babies And Blenders

The time has come, I am another year older.

Feeling Fruity

If you follow me on Instagram you will see I posted a picture yesterday of some healthy treats I picked up from my local shop.

Clacton? I Haven’t Heard That Name In Years

Last weekend the boy and I went down to Clacton-On-Sea to relax, see some sights and eat some fish and chips.

Travel Buddy

Travelling alone can be a whole mix of emotions ranging from terrifying, boring, tiring, confusing and lonely. To combat some of these I made my friend a little travel buddy bag and included all of the things I thought she would need on her 9 hour flight.

5 Guys and Ricci

Last week I went with my Mum and the Australian to London to meet my mum’s friend and have a bit of a lazy day.

Baby, Can I Hold You?

Recently, someone I work with became a father. As he is Irish I had been asking him which member of Boyzone he would name his son after! Turns out he didn’t choose any of them!

12 Years In The Making

Last night, Sunday, I went to the cinema with my Mum to see a cinema I had been anticipating for a few months.

Cheese And Cake?

As I mentioned a few days ago I have been getting all creative and decided my outlet was cakes. A while ago my sister was told she couldn’t eat gluten and as much as she tries to follow the rules one thing she does miss is cheesecake. (And sausage rolls, and bread, and big macs, and fish and chips but none of those would fit this post!)

Canadia, eh?

Last Tuesday was the day Canada celebrated their independence, so working with a Canadian, and looking for any excuse for a celebration we put on a Canada Day party!

Up To My Knees In Nappies

Recently I have been feeling all creative and decided to let this out in the form of cake. I have been making tiers of the most weird and wonderful kinds.

This weekend I decided to try my luck at making a nappy cake, I have seen them online and at baby showers and decided Baby Humphries needed one as well.

Sun, Sea and Squid?

Recently I travelled to one of the Canary Islands to visit some friends, relax, take a break, dip my feet in the sea and try new things. I can happily say I ticked everything off my list.

Deciding to take a trip alone initially filled me with fear; I am not a massive fan of flying and have never done the whole airport to aeroplane process by myself before! The knowledge that I would be landing in a much warmer climate made the fear shrink and as I was sat on the plane waiting to take off I must admit some of that fear did turn into excitement and after a few hours in the air, dare I say it, I began to enjoy myself!

Birchbox - The Love Edition

So, it’s February, there are hearts and pretty things everywhere we look and Birchbox have joined in with the love this month.

It’s Just All So Cute

Anxiously waiting for the arrival of Baby Humphries (yes I know there are still 6 months to go) has led to A LOT of baby shopping. And I know I promised this will not become a baby blog, and it won’t, but recently I have found some super cute (and purse friendly) goodies.

Good Place To Wash Your Hair, Liverpool. Nice Soft Water

A is for ay, ay, calm down. And all the other Scouse stereotypes were laughed about on our day trip to Liverpool. The boy was scared of us being beaten up when I wouldn’t quieten my appalling Liverpudlian accent as soon as I saw the “faaairey” on the “maersey”.

Tuesday, 11 February 2014

Stand Up If You’re Top Of The League

I know that recently Luton have taken somewhat of a backseat on my blog, I have been travelling a fair bit and doing some fairly one-off things so have been dying to share those experiences with you.

Birchbox January 2014

A new year, a new me? Not completely but I am definitely trying out a lot of new things this year, and one of them is a beauty subscription box.

Thursday, 30 January 2014

Parcel Of Joy

Before you get excited, no, Baby Humphries hasn’t arrived! I received a slightly larger bright parcel from Zara Khalique. A big orange bag with my name in bold curly letters is guaranteed to make me smile, and I had two of them recently.

Introducing The Next Generation

I have some VERY exciting news to share with you…the Humphries clan are getting ready to welcome a new generation into the world.

Thursday, 23 January 2014

Nailed It

Being someone who never had very nice nails I was never interested in nail polishes or accessories as I never had anything to show off. Oh how that has changed.

Monday, 13 January 2014

Out With The Old

As the new year settles in and 2013 begins to feel like a distant memory I have started to tackle one of my resolutions. That is the need to be brutal and it started with my wardrobe!

Friday, 10 January 2014

Oh No You Didn’t!

Last Sunday my Mum, Lauren and I went to Dunstable theatre to watch Dick Whittington starring neighbours legend Ryan Maloney.

January Shopping

As the title gives away, I have been doing a lot of shopping so thought I would share with you where I have been and what I have bought. Some of it may excite you a lot and some not so much but here it is.

Made With Love

Today is my Mums birthday and I wanted to share with you all what I made/bought her for her birthday. It may also give you some ideas for a birthday for a special woman in your life as this isn’t just for Mums.

14 Things To Do in 2014

I mentioned yesterday that I don’t really do New Year resolutions as I am really bad at them. Also I think if something in my life needs changing I should change it no matter what month I am in.
